The Gallery at the Barrymore Film Center

The Barrymore Film Center exhibits local visual artists as part of a rotating Gallery Wall in our world-class museum. This initiative features different artists throughout the year.

Exhibits showcase hanging artwork including painting, photography, mixed media, textile, or illustration, from artists in Fort Lee and the surrounding areas. Artists selected for exhibition have their work professionally presented in a beautiful public space with press, social, and email promotion.

Exhibitions are open to the public during the Barrymore Film Center’s regular hours of operation (approximately 10–15 screenings/events per week).

Cliff Gold

“This collection reflects my passion for painting and my love of the creative challenges that come with each new work. I enjoy blending bright colors and experimenting with different materials and techniques, including acrylics, pastels, watercolor, pencil, ink, and mixed media.

I am particularly drawn to geometric shapes and enjoy exploring how lines, forms, and color can come together in unexpected ways. Each painting and sketch gives me an opportunity to experiment, discover something new, and see where the process takes me.

For me, painting is both a creative challenge and a wonderful distraction. As Winston Churchill wrote, ‘Painting is complete as a distraction. I know of nothing which, without exhausting the body, more entirely absorbs the mind.’ That sense of complete absorption is a big part of what l love about painting, and what keeps me excited to continue exploring.”

We welcome submissions from emerging and established artists alike. Let your work be seen at the home of cinema history!

Details:

• Hanging system (30 lbs per hook, 900 lbs max per rail, 3 total rails)

• Wall space: 24 feet, 9 inches

• Artist handles installation and removal

• Up to 3-month display period (schedule-dependent)

• BFC retains 30% commission on all sales

• A public opening reception opportunity is available, mutually agreed upon and coordinated between the Artist and BFC staff.
