Just steps from the George Washington Bridge, the Barrymore Film Center is located at 1 Park Avenue, Fort Lee, NJ 07024 USA, on the corner of Main Street, Park Avenue, and Palisade Avenue.

Free Parking Directions

BFC offers free parking spaces in the covered garage behind the theater on Central Road.

Tip: Free BFC parking is limited, so arriving early is recommended.

Important: There is no direct entrance from the garage to BFC. After parking, please walk up to Main St. and enter via Park Ave.

How to reach the BFC spots in the garage:

  • Access to BFC spots is via the back entrance to The Modern’s covered garage on Central Road.

  • Tip: Input 2003 Central Road into your GPS to take you to the garage entrance.

  • Upon entering the garage, you will see signs for the Barrymore-designated spots.

  • If you go straight, you will enter The Modern’s private parking section instead. Do not go through the barriers/arm/gate into The Modern section.

Driving Directions

From New York City / George Washington Bridge:

  1. Take Interstate 95 Lower Level S / U.S. 1 Lower Level S toward Fort Lee.

  2. Take exit 73‑74 for US‑9W / NJ‑67 / Fort Lee / Palisades Interstate Parkway.

  3. Merge onto Bridge Plaza North.

  4. Turn left onto Fletcher Avenue, then use the left lane to stay on Fletcher Avenue.

  5. Turn left onto Kelby Street.

  6. Continue onto Bridge Plaza South / Bruce Reynolds Boulevard.

  7. Turn right onto Central Road.

  8. Turn right into the garage behind the Film Center.

  9. Walk up to the Main Street / Park Avenue entrance to access the Film Center.

From North (I‑95 / NJ Turnpike South – for drivers from farther north in NJ / upstate NY): Follow the same steps as above from exit 73‑74 onward.


From North (Palisades Interstate Parkway South – local NJ drivers):

  1. Follow Palisades Interstate Parkway South to Hudson Terrace in Fort Lee.

  2. Take the Hudson Terrace exit toward I‑95 N / George Washington Bridge / New York.

  3. Keep right and follow signs for Hudson Terrace.

  4. Turn left onto Hudson Terrace.
    Tip: Parts of this road are closed Mon–Fri 6:00–9:00 AM.

  5. Turn right onto Bruce Reynolds Boulevard.

  6. Turn left onto Central Road.

  7. Turn right into the garage behind the Film Center.

  8. Walk up to the Main Street / Park Avenue entrance to access the Film Center.

From West and South (Route 4 / I‑95 North / NJ Turnpike North):

  1. Take Route 4 East toward Fort Lee.

  2. Use the left lane to take the I‑95 North / NJ Turnpike North exit toward the George Washington Bridge.

  3. Merge onto I‑95 Express North, continue onto Interstate 95 Upper Level North / NJ Turnpike North.

  4. Take exit 73 toward NJ‑67 / Fort Lee.

  5. Continue onto Park Avenue.

  6. Turn left onto Bruce Reynolds Boulevard.

  7. Turn right onto Central Road.

  8. Turn right into the garage behind the Film Center.

  9. Walk up to the Main Street / Park Avenue entrance to access the Film Center.

Public Transportation

From New York City / Manhattan (George Washington Bridge area):

  • From the George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal (175th Street Station):
    All NJ Transit buses departing the GWB Bus Terminal stop in Fort Lee at Bridge Plaza West, just a few minutes’ walk from the Barrymore Film Center (0.1–0.3 miles).

  • Tickets:
    For these routes, purchase a Zone 1 Interstate ticket if you’re getting on at the GWB Bus Terminal and off at Bridge Plaza West.

  • Buses that stop at Bridge Plaza West include NJ Transit 171 (Paterson), 175 (Ridgewood), 178 (Fort Lee), 181 (Newark), 182 (Hackensack), 186 (Dumont), and 188 (West New York via Edgewater).

  • When returning to NYC, board any NJ Transit bus from Bridge Plaza East, which goes directly back across the bridge to the GWB Bus Terminal.

Accessibility note: Access between the Bridge Plaza stops requires stairs. If you cannot take stairs, consider alternative stops listed below.

Closer Stops to the Barrymore Film Center:

If you’d like to be dropped off closer to the theater (Main St & Central Rd):

  • Bus 188 (West New York via Edgewater)
    Purchase a Zone 2 Interstate ticket.

    • To Fort Lee: Get off at Main St + Central Rd (Stop #11895), right by Oiso BBQ, on Main Street across from BFC.

    • To NYC: Board at Main St + Martha Washington Way (Stop #31172), in front of CVS across from BFC.

The 188 runs about once per hour.

Other routes:

  • Bus 186 sometimes stops at Main St + Lemoine Ave (Zone 2), but due to bridge construction, service there is inconsistent.

  • Bus 158 follows a similar path to the 188 but runs between Port Authority and Fort Lee (not the GWB Terminal) and takes longer.

Tip: Always check the latest schedules. Walking distances from bus stops are short (5–10 min).
