Education Program Policies & Procedures

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Barrymore Film Center (BFC) provides educational programs for youth and teens focused on film, media, and creative storytelling. These policies govern all youth-facing programming, including classes, workshops, camps, and related activities.

ATTENDANCE POLICY
Students are expected to attend all sessions. Makeup sessions are not guaranteed.

EQUIPMENT & TECHNOLOGY
Students may use personal smartphones, tablets, or laptops where applicable. Limited equipment may be available through BFC.
Certain courses may require:

  • Smartphone with camera

  • Headphones

  • Email access

  • Basic computer literacy

Optional tools may include: CapCut, iMovie, Canva, Audacity.

SHOWCASE OPPORTUNITIES
Select youth and teen programs may conclude with informal presentations or screenings for families and guests. Participation is not guaranteed and is at BFC’s discretion.

CERTIFICATES
Film Workforce Development Academy participants may receive certificates of completion based on attendance and/or program requirements.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT

  • Registration
    Enrollment is confirmed only upon receipt of:

    • Completed registration form

    • Full payment (unless otherwise approved)

    • Required consent documents

Space is limited and enrollment is first-come, first-served.

  • Payment Terms
    Full payment is required at registration unless an alternative arrangement is approved in writing.

REFUND POLICY

  • Full refund: 14+ days prior to start

  • 50% refund: 7–13 days prior to start

  • No refund: fewer than 7 days prior or after program begins

  • No refunds for missed classes

TRANSFERS & WAITLIST
Transfers may be permitted based on availability. Waitlisted participants will be enrolled in order of registration as space becomes available.

SPECIAL PRICING

  • BFC Member: 10% off total purchase

  • Multi-Class Youth: 10% off total purchase

Special pricing will be issued as a rebate within 1–2 business days of receiving your completed registration materials.

Early registration incentives may be offered at BFC discretion.

INCLEMENT WEATHER / EMERGENCIES
Programs may be delayed, canceled, or rescheduled due to weather or emergencies. Notifications will be sent via email, phone (if applicable), website, and social media. BFC reserves the right to make independent closure decisions.

PROGRAM MODIFICATION
BFC reserves the right to adjust instructors, schedules, curriculum, or room assignments as needed to ensure program quality and operational needs.

LIABILITY WAIVER
Participants acknowledge inherent risks in educational activities and release BFC from liability except in cases of gross negligence.

MEDIA RELEASE
Enrollment grants permission for BFC to photograph, film, or record participants for educational, archival, and promotional use unless a written opt-out is provided. Student creative work (including films, scripts, and projects) may also be used for promotional purposes unless otherwise restricted.

STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT
All participants must:

  • Treat others with respect

  • Follow instructor and staff directions

  • Use equipment responsibly

  • Avoid disruptive or unsafe behavior

BFC may remove participants for violations without refund.
